ΠΕΡΙΛΗΨΗ
Ο σκοπός αυτής της μελέτης είναι να διερευνηθεί η συχνότητα, η εντόπιση και ο τρόπος αντιμετώπισης
των καταγμάτων του σπλαγχνικου κρανίου στα παιδιά. Διενεργήθηκε μία αναδρομική κλινικοστατιστική
μελέτη η οποία περιλάμβανε 183 κατάγματα σε 125 ασθενείς, που συνέβησαν από τον Ιούνιο του 1990
έως τον Ιανουάριο του 1999. Η συχνότητα των παιδιατρικών καταγμάτων του σπλαγχνικου κρανίου είναι
χαμηλή συγκρινόμενη με αυτή των αντίστοιχων καταγμάτων στους ενήλικες. Τα τροχαία ατυχήματα και οι
πτώσεις ήταν τα κύρια αίτια των καταγμάτων αυτών.
Η αναλογία αγοριών - κοριτσιών που εμφάνισαν τα κατάγματα ήταν 2,1:1 και παρατηρήθηκε αύξηση της
συχνότητας τους με την πάροδο της ηλικίας, με τη μεγαλύτερη τιμή της σε παιδιά ηλικίας 8-13 ετών. Τα
συχνότερα εμφανιζόμενα κατάγματα ήταν αυτά που αφορούσαν τις κονδυλικές αποφύσεις. Η θεραπεία που
εφαρμόστηκε στις περισσότερες περιπτώσεις ήταν συντηρητική, κυρίως με κλειστή ανάταξη και διαγναθική
ακινητοποίηση. Τα θεραπευτικά αποτελέσματα ήταν εξαιρετικά και δεν παρατηρήθηκαν επιπλοκές.
